These Windows market share statistics show where Windows stands in March 2026 across all devices, desktop operating systems, Windows version adoption, and selected regional markets.
Windows market share statistics
One of the biggest takeaways is that Windows still dominates desktop computing, but it is no longer the top operating system across all device types because smartphone usage gives Android a larger overall global share.

What these Windows market share statistics show
Windows is still the default operating system for desktop and laptop computing. The February 2026 figures show a large gap between Windows and every other desktop operating system, both worldwide and across major regions. That desktop lead remains the clearest sign of Windows’ strength in work, gaming, and general PC use.
At the same time, Windows is no longer the largest operating system across all connected devices. Android’s lead on a combined desktop, mobile, and tablet basis shows how much of today’s internet usage comes from phones. In other words, Windows still owns the PC market, but the broader device market is now more mobile-first than PC-first.
The version mix also points to a post-Windows 10 transition period. Windows 11 now makes up most of the Windows desktop base worldwide, and the end of Windows 10 support in October 2025 likely pushed both consumer and commercial refresh activity into 2025 and early 2026.
